Hailsham United JFC U14 Colts 2 vs. 3 Hastings Utd Youth

Hailsham stamped their authority on the game from the start, immediately penning Hastings into their own half, only to be undone with a long throw to the Hastings pacey No 8 who sprinted past the Hailsham defence, before cleverly chipping Ben Andrews in the Hailsham goal. Undeterred the Colts continued to press and a superb pass from Joe Mcbride set Hailsham’s Jake Packham through on goal, to place a lofted shot into the roof of the Hastings net.  Hailsham continued to make and squandered chances, whilst a brave save from keeper Andrews kept the scores level.  Hastings pulled ahead when a failed clearance was punished, but Hailsham’s Packham created an opening for Perry Ford to level the scores.  A draw looked the likely outcome but Hailsham committed a foul on the edge of the box in the dying seconds and cruelly it was expertly placed into the gutted Hailsham net.

From the outset Hailsham played a free flowing and disciplined game, but it was Uckfield who took the lead when a long distance free kick was driven into the box only for it to be headed into his own net by Hailsham’s Sam Townsend.  Hailsham maintained their composure and deservedly drew level when the outstanding Oli Taylor skipped down the line, before drilling the ball across the goal for James Hunt to score.  Junior’s striker Adam Pye made it two after the Uckfield keeper failed to hold a free kick. Second half Uckfield came out battling and thought they’d equalised with a header, only for the assistant to rule it offside.  Hailsham responded scoring three goals in a scintillating five minute spell, a double from Pye and another from Hunt to put the game beyond Uckfield.  The hosts continued to play their part but with Taylor a constant threat, Pye added a fourth and the performance rounded-off when Taylor rifled in a superb seventh
