| Pembury Vs HAILSHAM - 17 October 2011Hailsham again travelled to Kent for their 3rd league fixture of the season. This week they played Pembury. A team we have played on 4 occasions in previous seasons, and a team we have never beaten, a bit of a bogey side, with 2 defeats and 2 draws. But with the boys starting the season off well apart from last weekends blip we were confident. Pembury got the game under way, however Hailsham pressed straight away and won the ball. It then continued with some great passing from Hailsham with all the midfielders and strikers getting a touch before the ball got to George Palmer in the penalty area, who instantly turned to face goal, moved the ball to his left where the defender left out a leg and bought him down. Penalty! George dusted himself down, to dispatch the penalty into the right corner of the goal. 1-0. Great start to the game. The boys didn't rest on their laurels either and carried on playing some attractive football. Switching the play very well, and looking dangerous down both flanks. However their keeper made several good saves, another from George Palmer who had his 25 yard pile driver tipped over the bar. Pembury started to get settled and had a lot of set pieces , mainly throw-ins and corners, but never really looked like scoring apart from when George tried to clear but shot towards his own goal, but Ben Harmer making a cracking save just after pushing another away. Harry Worsell then found space after beating a man and from about 25 yards let fly, only to be denied by the crossbar. Hailsham were to extend their lead before the break, with Jack Field, Connor and Harry combining well before George's shot was tipped onto the inside of the post by the keeper but unfortunately for the keeper the ball found the net. 2-0 at half-time. Hailsham were told just to keep it tight and we would want another clean sheet. Pembury started the second half better but again never looked like scoring apart from corners, the closest they came was when their striker got his head on the ball but Ben Harmer saved again this time on the line. However Hailsham finished by far the stronger team, with Pembury's keeper pulling off several good saves in the second half. Two goal hero George Palmer having to come off injured after colliding with a team mate. Hailsham came closest to a third when Harry Worsell crashed his free-kick against the bar. Another accomplished performance with the defence again looking solid. And with results going our way, we find ourselves top of the pile after three but with plenty of games to play. 14 superb performances, with a well earned rest next week. read more ...

| TW Foresters 0 - 3 Hailsham - 28 September 2011Hailsham continued their fine start to the season with a well worked 3-0 victory over Tunbridge Wells Foresters. Tunbridge Wells won both fixtures last season and finished 3rd in the league and will be up there come the end of the season. Hailsham started well pressing TW Spitfires straight from their kick-off. Hailsham enjoyed plenty of well worked possession without really creating anything. Tunbridge Wells then started to see more of the ball but never really created a chance. We were hoping we wouldn't get punished for not making the most of the ball that we had. Hailsham then won a free kick 20 yards from goal which George Palmer hit sweetly but just whistled past the post. But he wasn't to be denied when for the second week running he hit a sweet shot into the top corner which the keeper had no chance with. Anyone would think he was having his own goal of the season comp by himself. Again he had a similar effort a couple of minutes later, however this time the keeper did superbly well to tip it over the bar. Hailsham were to extend their lead soon after though with a great individual goal by Harry Worsell as he somehow found his way through a packed penalty area past at least 4 players before slotting home with his left foot. Hailsham continued to press and play the ball well, and won a corner. George put the ball in from the corner, which Joe Arto flicked on, before Alfie Taylor headed back across goal to find Jack Ralph, and the centre back made no mistake to put the ball into the back of the net. Half time came with the boys buoyed by the best half of football they have played. Tunbridge Wells weren't allowed to play their passing game and Hailsham playing and pressing well. At Half time the boys were told to keep it tight as there was no need for more goals but a clean-sheet being very important due to the amount of defensive work being done. They did this very professional in the second half and Tunbridge Wells were restricted to one clear chance which make shift keeper Oliver Albertella did very well to save. Hailsham were still carving out chances, with Tyler Galt and Alfie Taylor going close late on with wicked balls across the face of goals, and other chances which the keeper did very well to make. So it finished 3-0, the most important thing though was the clean sheet, which we hope to have many more of this season.
Squad: Jacob Jeffery, Oliver Albertella, Tyler Galt, Kieran Olive, Jack Ralph, Jake Haywood, Jamie Taylor, George Palmer, Jack Field, Harry Worsell, Joe Arto, Owen Miller, Alfie Taylor.

| Hailsham 2 - 1 Ringmer Rovers - 20 September 2011For the second game running Hailsham came out of the game with a 2-1 victory. This time against a team who had scored 9 goals against us last season and only conceding 3 and taking 6 points from us. This game was to be different from last season. The first half was more of a midfield battle with no real chances created by either side. Each side both had two chances of note. Ringmer dictated play for most of the first half without really cutting open the Hailsham defence, although Hailsham didn't particularly play well in. Ringmer were stroking the ball round from left to right with most play going through their big number 4. Ringmers real chance of the half was with a great ball out to the right hand side their wingmer putting in a dangerous ball which Kieran Olive did well although rather fortuitously against his own post with Ben Harmer saving the rebound well before Kieran then cleared for a corner. Hailsham were unlucky not to go in ahead at the break from a George Palmer corner Jack Ralph rose above the rest just to see his header going just over the bar. Half time came, and Hailsham were told they needed to get the ball down and play it on the floor more and look for each other and not just kick and hope. Which they did straight from the second half whistle. Although it was Ringmer who took the lead. For the second week running a slight lapse in concentration allowed their striker to score from 1 on 1 situation. However Hailsham responded almost immediately with what will most definitely be goal of the season better than most goals that will be scored in the Premier League this season too. The ball was put into the box but Ringmer cleared the ball about 35 yards from goal was George Palmer as the ball came out to him as it bounced he hit it and the ball flew off his right foot and into the top corner. He probably didn't even feel the ball he struck it that sweet. Hailsham then go the ball down and were by far the better team and went onto score another fine goal. Owen Miller and Harry Worsell combined well down the left side before Harry beat a player down the left hand side before scoring from which seemed an impossible angle from the byline a very good finish. Hailsham threatened again and again but saw the game out to what proved to be a valuable and well earned three points to get the league campaign off to a great start. Again, the defending training and team shape paying off. This was the boys 4th straight competetive win. Onto Tunbridge Wells next week. read more ...
